Stewardship Analyses

How we build a foundation for stewardship

What is a Stewardship Analysis?

A Stewardship Analysis is an internal assessment of your overall stewardship development ministry and your readiness to embark on new ministry ventures.

Hewett Consulting will review past and current giving trends and establish a framework for future efforts. We will look at involvement of staff, lay leaders, members, regular attenders and lapsed givers and make recommendations on how to increase the effectiveness of your stewardship program. We also evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of your records and reporting systems, including computer hardware and software, and offers recommendations for improvement.

Finally, a stewardship analysis will help you look at your stewardship efforts from your givers’ point of view, offering suggestions on ways to improve communication and recognition.

When is a Stewardship Analysis necessary?

At Hewett Consulting, we recommend a Stewardship Analysis whenever a church:

  • Is dissatisfied with the results of its annual giving
  • Would like to increase lay leader participation in annual giving
  • Wants to establish a baseline by which to measure its annual giving
  • Wants an independent review of how to make the stewardship program more effective
  • Needs to diversify its giving streams
  • Is engaged in a strategic planning process
  • Is preparing to embark on a major capital or endowment campaign
  • Wants to take its stewardship program to a higher level
  • Wants to change the culture of giving within the congregation

What are the goals of a Stewardship Analysis?

When conducting a Stewardship Analysis, Hewett Consulting has three objectives in mind for your church:

  • To produce more tithes and offerings immediately
  • To implement proven stewardship development practices that will help produce long-term growth in tithes and offerings
  • To share the most effective techniques in cultivating stronger relationships with current tithers and givers

Upon completion of the analysis, Hewett Consulting will present your staff and lay leaders with a proposed plan of action. Many of our client churches see results equal to many times the consulting fee in the first few months after the analysis. The benefits continue to grow as the long-term cultivation of tithers and givers begins to pay dividends.

What is involved in a Stewardship Analysis?

A Stewardship Analysis typically consists of:

  • a comprehensive analysis of your total stewardship development ministry;
  • a questionnaire completed by key leaders within your organization, and
  • face-to-face interviews with key staff, lay leader, volunteers and givers.
